How Are Hair Straighteners Manufactured in A Factory?

When you want to wholesale flat irons in bulk or prepare to start a flat iron line, you may want to know how are hair straighteners manufactured in a factory? When you want to brand your own flat iron or get private label flat irons, you may want to know how to make it?

Ok, this article is what you need, let’s go ahead.

Preparation before production
Before bulk production of flat irons, the handle of flat iron will have been labeled, and the nameplate also will have been printed at the inside of the handle according to clients’ design and requirements. The surface treatment of the hair straightener will have been completed, too. Some of these process flows require external processing like fuel injection and printing.
1. Installing PTC heater

Each hair iron with the heating element to keep the iron can heat-up to style hair. Installing the PTC heater is mainly phase except for the PCB. There are two types of heat elements: PTC and MCH heater.

At present, most hair straighteners are equipped with PTC heating elements, and this technology is becoming more and more mature so that people are not satisfied with such heating elements. They began to try to use MCH heating elements that heat up faster and return to a high temperature quickly, and more stable.

2. Assembling A side
Hair straighteners have A and B sides, we need to assemble the PTC heater, working plate to the A side.
3. Assembling B side

Same to the second step, put the PTC heater, working plate into the B side, and add the PCB board.

Note: PCB board put into which sides, that depends on the location of the temperature indicator.

4. Soldering the Power Cord
5. Fixing Axis
Fix axis is very important, not too tight nor too loose, to be just right.
6. Semi-finished products

After fixing axis, this flat iron is only a semi-finished product. In order to prevent to scratch at the transfer, we would start to temperature testing.

7. Temperature Test
At the phase of temperature test, we would test them one by one, and also through the aging test, anti-fall test.
8. Screw fastener
After a series of product performance tests, we will nail the shaft cover and install the trim on the hair straightener.
9. Visual inspection & Functional testing

Finished products are completed, you maybe thought we can prepare to package, obviously, you are wrong.

Before packing, we also need to check if the appearance of the product is defective, and whether there is any problem with the performance, such as whether the tail is rotating normally, whether the decorative part is falling off, the axis is too loose or too tight. Finally, check whether the product distribution meets the customer’s customization requirements.

Quality check is an important aspect in the entire custom design hair styling tools manufacturing process and thus it actually takes place after every phase of production to ensure quality. The final quality check takes place prior to packaging to ensure that no hair irons packed are defective or damaged.

10. Packaging

After the hair straighteners passed the strict quality control check, they are packed to be delivered to a specific client according to their requirements.  Packaging is equally important stage just like other steps of production. The following packing materials are checked. The customers can also order customized package material from a specified supplier. The hair straightener is packed neatly and checked for any packing issues before they are set for shipping.

The packaging custom designs are available to match the customer needs. The packing materials with different layout designs are often ordered by customers with specific needs.

11. Final Inspection

Though quality check is carried out at each stage of production right from installing a PTC heater to the final stage, still the final inspection is equally important before the order is shipped. Before packing, the final inspection is carried out and random checks are also conducted at the loading day before the shipment is scheduled. This is done to ensure that the end customer gets the quality product in hand.

It is the Quality and Assurance department that carries out the entire process and they know the latest industry standards. Internal quality checks are conducted by the Q and A staff at each stage of production to ensure quality.

12. Shipping & Delivery
After the hair straightener manufacturing and packing comes to an end, the final product is sent to the warehouse where it can be stored safely before they are transported. Shipping and delivery are important to make sure the final product reaches its destination on time. Many manufacturers hire reliable freights/cargo for shipment and delivery so that they guarantee timely and safe delivery to the end customer.

Each and every flat iron manufacturing process stated above is important and contributes to the production of quality product. Machines have simplified the work to a greater extent, but the human brain and efforts cannot be overlooked.

Note: Most hair straightener manufacturers accept the custom designs in different formats. If you choose a complex flat iron design that you have no idea about how it is going to look, you can ask the private label hair tools manufacturer for a sample so that you can make out how exactly the design looks on the irons.
